With over 20 years in the pet food and beef processing industry. The idea for Onterra Natural Pet came about in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. With years of processing and pet food experience under our belt, we clearly saw a huge difference in quality of the products on the shelves of retail stores, and the fresh products coming out of our smokehouses and dehydrators.  The reason for this quality difference is simple, retail stores require best before shelf life of minimum of 1 year, this means that they are over dehydrated and preservative heavy.

With the supply chain of the processing plant warehouse, to the wholesale warehouse, to the distributors warehouse, to the shelf in the store. It is easily conceivable that meat based treats that your pets are eating could be 8-10 months old. What meat product do you know of that is as fresh 8 months in as it was in the first week?
